This pattern is best made using Foundation Piecing, this is where you sew onto a piece of parchment or tracing paper from the reverse.
This basic Storm at Sea pattern gives the appearance of curves without actually stitching curves. There are many points in the pattern and seams are often 2 bias pieces together, stitching these the traditional way could cause problems with stretching so Foundation Piecing works well.
